Ttcp can be used to test P2P links, however, the drawback of generating the traffic from router is high CPU usage as this is a control-plane operation.
Therefore, it is not really recommended to use this utility to determine throughput for bigger interfaces.
TTCP is a hidden undocumented and unsupported IOS command. For testing of higher throughput links, such as, 1000BaseT it is recommended to send and receive traffic across the routers. There are TTCP executables available for various OS that may be used.
The following are the result of my findings.
- Point A to point B MPLS link (through routers)
- Point A to point B MPLS link (from and to routers)
